I could natter on about myself in the Third Person ("Paul Kahl was born in...", "Paul Kahl went college at..."), but I'm pretty sure that would make us all sick in short order. I'll refrain.
I was born in Germany, in 1973. I lived there until I was 2.
Those were golden years. I was learning about fencing, fighting, anything anyone could teach me... Sorry: Princess Bride flash-back. Where was I?
Oh yes.
I was born in Germany, in 1973. My mother and I lived there until I was 2, at which time we moved to the states, where I've been (more or less) ever since. We lived in a lot of different states (e.g. Texas, Colorado, Missouri, Vermont, Florida), finally stopping in Montana, where I finished high school.
After high school, I joined the Air Force, and spent the next couple years "seeing the world." That mostly involved meeting different, exotic people, in interesting and beautiful places...
When I got out of the Air Force, I moved back to Montana, and after a short stint as a short-order cook at an italian restaurant, I started college, at the University of Montana, in Missoula. College took up the between-hours of the next few years, and then it was time to move on once more. So I chose a place where the sun always shines, the weather is always warm, and the fake tans go as far as the eye can see.
That's right - I moved to Seattle.
I got various jobs, mostly involved in tech. I worked my way up through the development food chain, in gigs with start-ups, been-theres, has-beens, big-boys. My resumé makes short work of describing all that and painting the better picture.
In 2001, I met my future wife, Joann. We were married in May, 2006, and had a fantastic honeymoon. After we got back, we got dogs.
I've taken up photography over the last few years, taking tens of thousands of bad pictures, and a few truly incredible ones. You can see them all on my photo site and on my Flickr page.
